After a number of rejections, the newest update release of i-Gun has finally hit the App Store with the deadliest weapon in the history of i-Gun!
How deadly is it? In the past week, i-Gun has gone from US Top Paid #78 to #30, and the lite version has jumped quite a bit in ranking as well.
“i-Gun Promo Pack” has recently been made available for download in the App Store. With the “i-Gun Promo Pack”, you can unlock the new heavy machine gun (full version only) as well as receive 3,000 i-Gun cash (full and lite versions).
The best thing is that this promo pack does not cost you anything! It’s completely FREE!
So why wait? Download the “Promo Pack” today!
It’s been awhile since the last update of i-Gun, and thanks to the numerous i-Gun supporters around the globe who rooted and cheered for us. (As you can well imagine, we’ve been getting so many emails we couldn’t keep up answering every single email.)
Why has there been delay in the update?
We’ve had an unfortunate power outrage in August, and we lost quiet a bit of work, so we ended up rebuilding a lot of design works and finally the new update is ready for Apple’s approval!
The new update of i-Gun comes with a required download of i-Gun Promo Pack, which will be available for FREE.
- The gun selection page has been completely redesigned to take advantage of the innovative iPhone user interface.
- Each machine gun now has a 3 selection switch – Safety mode, Manual, and Automatic
- More & Better effects, Cash system update, Minor bug fixes…
- and last not least, a new unlockable weapon
Thanks again to all i-Gun & i-Gun Lite supporter who have been patient with this new update.
“Finger Scan Deluxe” has now a new name “Fun Scanner”.
The change of the title was inevitable as Apple has decided to remove “Finger Scan Deluxe” from AppStore during the dispute over the descriptive mark “Finger Scan” between Kudit and Vanilla Breeze.
Kudit is the developer behind “Finger Scan” and “Finger Scan Pro” which functions like fingerprint scanner security system. The concept of the all applications may be similar in terms that you have to touch on the screen to activate something and get a response, but “Finger Scan” series and “Finger Scan Deluxe” are very different in their functions.
We, at Vanilla Breeze, have every reason to believe that our use of mark “Finger Scan Deluxe” falls under the ‘fair use’ under the US Trademark Law, as the words ‘Finger’ and ‘Scan’ are commoditized words in English language and Kudit has not acquired any patents, registered trademarks, or other types of intellectual properties over such a name.
The terms “Finger”, “Scan” or together “Finger Scan” all describe the functionality of the product. These types of ‘descriptive marks‘ are not inherently distinctive and are protected ONLY IF the vast majority of consumers can associate the marks with a particular producer. Descriptive marks must clear this additional hurdle because they are terms that are useful for describing the underlying product, and giving a particular manufacturer the exclusive right to use the term could confer an unfair advantage.
Well, let’s pretend for a short moment that ”Finger Scan Deluxe” never ever existed. We honestly can’t associate “Finger Scan” with any one particular company. Can you?
In our opinion, Kudit’s “Finger Scan” series function much more similar to Nov@Soft’ “FingerScan” developed for PDAs much earlier, and they have much more serious issue in violating copyrights of Nov@Soft, if a lawsuit is ever involved.
We now have learned that Kudit has recently released “Finger Scan Deluxe Lite” after our application has been removed from AppStore. Now, who do you think is infringing whose copyrights?
i-Gun has received massive global attention from the recent spread of youtube traffic rampage.
If you haven’t watched it, make sure you take a look!
(Warning: Lots of F words)

According to ViralVideoChart, the viral sharing has already peaked, but over 1 million page views in a week is pretty amazing. Great job, Kevin!
We have been recently approached by Apple’s Developer Support Team and was told to remove “broken LCD” references from the product description of iSurprise. A few days after we have fixed the product description, we received another phone call telling us to remove the cracking animation effects from iSurprise.
Why? we asked.
Their rational behind this request was that Apple is getting too many phone calls from their customers telling them their devices have become broken by using iSurprise.
What? (We were speechless)

The cracking stamp from iSurprise is just one of many effects that users can choose from, and it’s not the default option. This means the user has to deliberately select the option. Once the application is shut down by pressing the Home button, all the effects are gone. When you return to the application by relaunching, the full screen setting is automatically disabled so that the menu bar on top will be shown and the user is forced to set it back to full screen mode again. There is zero possibility that user will come to think that their iPhone has become broken as a result of using this application.
Well, after a long talk, we were given three options.
1) Apple will take the application down from AppStore.
2) We remove the application from sale.
3) We remove the cracking feature from iSurprise and upload the new binary for approval.
We have reluctantly chosen #3 as our choice, and the new binary has been uploaded for Apple’s approval. This week will be probably the last week you can purchase iSurprise, with the broken LCD prank effects.
From time to time, Apple’s app approval policy changes, (for example, iFart was something not allowed in the AppStore for quite some time) so we hope that Apple will eventually open up the gate for these types of prank apps in the near future, but until then, farewell iSurprise!
In order to support the continuous development of i-Gun with free updates, we are announcing i-Gun Cash Apps that can be used in both OS 2.x and 3.x.
WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH I-GUN CASH?
- Level up to unlock new weapons (now right now, but maybe in the future)
- Purchase options for each gun (silencer, more ammo, etc)
REQUIREMENT:
- i-Gun v1.7 or later
- i-Gun Lite v1.1 or later
These apps are pending Apple’s approval and are currently unavailable from the AppStore.

The long-waited Scouter has been finally released after 4 full months of approval process.
The original version we first submitted used the iPhone’s built-in camera to display the power meter over the image from the camera, but Apple continuously rejected our application, telling us that the use of ‘undocumented API’ is prohibited.

It is weird because there are so many applications that use custom(undocumented) camera API. Camera Zoom, QuadCam, Easy Camera, and Snap Magic, just to name a few. Have they just slipped through the approval process? We don’t believe so. Some even have updated versions.
After many endeavours, we ended up having to disable the feature that uses the built-in camera, and the version that you see from the AppStore now does not have the capability of instantly measuring the power using the built-in camera, but we will keep trying to bring the full version in the near future. The update will be free of charge, as always.
i-Gun’s new update ‘Connectivity’ has been released!
While there is no new gun this time, we’ve come up with answers to “How do I rank up?” and “How do I earn i-Gun more cash?”
In the past, you needed $10,000 for each level up. The newly revised ranking system requires $1,000 for the first level up, but twice as much for the next round. Here’s how the new ranking system works for the first 10 levels.
Lv1 $10,000
Lv2 $11,000
Lv3 $13,000
Lv4 $16,000
Lv5 $20,000
Lv6 $25,000
Lv7 $31,000
Lv8 $38,000
Lv9 $44,000
Lv10 $53,000
and on…
Do you see the pattern?
We know a lot of people have already made to Lv20 or beyond. We would like to see how many have reached the “GURU” Level. If you have, send us your screenshot along with your email receipt to enter our monthly sweepstakes! You may be one of 5 lucky winners to receive free download coupons for the new Vanilla Breeze products!
Next, how do you earn i-Gun cash?
In the past, there were five different ways to earn i-Gun Cash.
1. Simply shoot around.
2. Destroy enemies and stuffs.
3. Shoot well from the Shooting Range.
4. Refer i-Gun to your friends (Menu -> Credit -> Tell a friend )
5. Take a look at VB products (Menu -> Credit -> Earn i-Gun cash -> Click on each
Apple didn’t like #4 and asked us to remove the function. We argued, but they won. So instead of “Tell a Friend” button, you’ll see “Buy i-Gun Cash” button. As many of you know OS3.0 introduces in-app purchase, but we wanted all the folks who use OS2.x to benefit from the new ways of adding cash, so we took a different approach. Hopefully Apple will approve those apps soon, and we’ll come up with new details when they arrive in the AppStore!
Wait, what new guns are you going to make? Can I make suggestions?
Due to heavy competition among gun apps (but you all know i-Gun is the best) we do not disclose new features until they are available from the AppStore. Of course, you can make suggestions. Send us gun infos, images, and ideas!
We want to make i-Gun the Pocket God of all gun apps out there! Spread the words and encourage your friends to purchase i-Gun instead of other competing gun apps. Your purchases keep us develop more features and more fun!
Of course, all updates will be provided for FREE!
