Crack LCD rejected by AppStore 5

Crack LCD, a fun little app that mimics a broken screen when touched, has been rejected by AppStore again.

It was initially submitted early January, and after a week of waiting, we received the first response from Apple.

Dear Vanilla Breeze,

Your application Crack LCD is requiring unexpected additional time for review.   We apologize for the delay, and will update you with further status as soon as we are able.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards,

iPhone Developer Program

Apple usually approves (or denies) our apps in about a week’s time, but we waited and waited.

Then, after exactly one month, we received this.

Dear Vanilla Breeze,

Thank you for submitting your application to Apple’s App Store. Unfortunately, your application, Crack LCD, cannot be added to the App Store because it uses standard iPhone screen images in a non-standard way, potentially resulting in user confusion. Changing the behavior of standard iPhone graphics, actions, and images, or simulating failures of those graphics, actions, or images is a violation of the iPhone Developer Program agreement which requires applications to abide by the Human Interface Guidelines.

If you would like to share this app with friends and family, we recommend you review the Ad Hoc method on the Distribution tab of the iPhone Developer Portal for details. This will allow you to distribute your application to a small group of people of your choosing.

Regards,

iPhone Developer Program

Come on, Apple!

You’ve approved hundreds of fart apps (yes, there are more than one hundred of these at the AppStore), pull-my-finger joke apps, annoying sound generators, and such. Why not a broken screen prank? People who purposefully purchasing a broken screen app cannot be frustrated by “potentially resulting in user confusion,” which is the very point of buying this app.

All people who have been shown and victimized by Crack LCD told us that it was fun and they had a good time cracking more.

We believe little fun apps like this should be recommended, not banned.

Sorry Rovantara, as you’d have expected, we do not distribute our unreleased products. We have submitted a workaround solution to Apple, and we hope they’ll approve it soon.
